Wolverine Golfers

The Michigan Wolverine Deaf Lady Golfers is a non-profit golf organization founded in 1976. The purpose of the WDLG is to promote and maintain the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf for deaf and hard of hearing women, to promote understanding of the rules of golf and to provide opportunities for women to learn, play and enjoy the game of golf.

• Integrity and honesty.

The association is open to all deaf, hard of hearing and hearing female golfers of all skill levels. The whole objective of this association is to have a once a month golfing event for gathering and fun.

So if you are interested please feel free to contact or email us and we'll be sure to get back with you. Soon we will have a mailing list which you can register and receive mailing from us. We will resume the monthly golfing events from April to October.

OUR HISTORY

In 1976, three Deaf ladies who shared the same golfing experience and passion founded this organization. The very first tournament named the Wolverine Deaf Lady Golf Association was held in Gaylord, Michigan with three lady golfers -- H.DiFalco, C.Harvey, and N.Vance. At this tournament, H.DiFalco won the low gross and C.Harvey was a runner up.

The three ladies decided to keep on playing golf once a month and state tournament every year. The fund was started with two dollars.

The organization has grown a great deal since then, and there will be many more years and many more members for this organization. Now, the membership grows bigger and stronger in the state of Michigan with 20 members present.

At the first election meeting, these officers were elected: H.DiFalco as President and G.Bachman as a Secretary-Treasurer. Today, we have four officers: President, Secretary, Treasurer and Law Chairperson.

In 1997, the name of this association was changed to Wolverine Deaf Lady Golfers.
